In a significant legal decision, six convicts in the 2025 murder of BJP leader Venkatesh Kurubara have been sentenced to death. The ruling was delivered by the First Additional District and Sessions Court, highlighting the severity of the crime.
Judge Sadanand Nagappa Nayak announced the verdict, convicting Ravi, Vijay alias Mailari, Dhanraja, Bhima alias Bharat, Salim, and Gangadhar Gowli. The judgment follows a detailed investigation and a swift filing of charges, underscoring the diligent efforts by the police in this challenging case.
The murder was a result of personal enmity, with Kurubara brutally attacked after a deliberate vehicular collision. The SP of Koppal, Ram L Arasiddi, mentioned that some of the convicts already had multiple charges against them, complicating the investigation process.
