A mosque constructed on graveyard land in Kaserua village has been declared illegal by a local tehsildar court, officials announced on Friday. The order comes after a revenue team, led by Tehsildar Dhirendra Kumar Singh, conducted a land demarcation in response to villagers' complaints.
The tehsildar court has already issued an eviction order against the mosque committee, which has filed an appeal with the district magistrate. The appellate court's decision is awaited for further action. Singh highlighted that such constructions are inappropriate both legally and religiously.
Revenue records confirm the land as designated graveyard space. Villagers reported the issue due to the lack of graveyard land, prompting the court's action under Section 67. Without valid ownership evidence from the mosque committee, notices are also being issued to others occupying community land.
