A Delhi Police constable with a criminal history, Samay Singh, has been arrested along with six other individuals for their involvement in a Rs 50 lakh robbery in north Delhi's Azad Market area, officials reported on Friday. Singh played a pivotal role in orchestrating the heist before being apprehended in Rajasthan's Dausa on April 30.
Singh, previously arrested in December 2024 for another robbery and released in May 2025, is a repeat offender with a series of serious criminal cases, including kidnapping for ransom. The recent case unfolded when two men carrying Rs 50.37 lakh were ambushed at Azad Market Chowk by four assailants on March 31.
The accused attacked the duo and escaped with the cash, prompting a police investigation that led to the arrest of seven suspects, including the constable. Most of the stolen money was recovered, along with five mobile phones and the motorcycle used in the crime. Police revealed Singh's involvement after co-accused Farman's arrest, who disclosed Singh's orchestration of the operation.
