In a heart-wrenching incident, a four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by a senior citizen in Pune's Bhor tehsil, Maharashtra, authorities revealed on Saturday.
The police quickly apprehended a 65-year-old suspect after CCTV footage showed him leading the child away under the guise of offering food. Villagers erupted in anger, demanding immediate justice, and staged a blockade on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway.
Pune Rural Superintendent Sandip Singh Gill took swift action to quell the unrest, pledging that a chargesheet would be filed within 15 days with a fast-track court trial. The accused has a past criminal record, though he was acquitted in previous cases.
