BJP Claims Trinamool's Power Grab Crumbles Amid Court Verdict

After the Supreme Court declined to meddle with a Calcutta High Court ruling concerning the deployment of Central staff for vote counting in West Bengal, the BJP announced that the Trinamool Congress' efforts to seize power by 'unfair means' have collapsed.

BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that the Trinamool Congress approached the highest court in desperation following the realization of their imminent defeat in the state polls, the results of which will be released on Monday. The Supreme Court stated that no further action was needed regarding the Trinamool's plea against a high court decision dismissing its petition challenging an Election Commission circular.

The ruling affirmed the Election Commission's right to assign Central government personnel for counting, dismissing accusations of impropriety. Trivedi argued that the Trinamool's repeated legal challenges over the years demonstrate both political frustration and an inclination to misuse constitutional mechanisms. He suggested that the party's actions illustrate its loss of public trust.
