CCI Dismisses AGI Greenpac's Plea Against INSCO's Green Channel Approval for HNG Acquisition
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has rejected AGI Greenpac Ltd's plea against the approval granted to Independent Sugar Corporation Ltd for acquiring Hindusthan National Glass & Industries via the green channel route. CCI found no merit in AGI's concerns and upheld the validity of the transaction.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has, once again, dismissed a challenge from AGI Greenpac Ltd concerning the green channel approval issued to Independent Sugar Corporation Ltd. This clearance was pivotal for the latter's acquisition of Hindusthan National Glass & Industries (HNG).
In a decisive order dated April 20, the CCI concluded there was no substantiated merit in AGI Greenpac's objections. The regulatory body deemed the issues raised, including concerns about undisclosed equity participants, controlling stakes, and overlap in operations, unfounded.
CCI further clarified that the transaction would not materially alter the market dynamics, affirming that all regulatory processes adhered to the procedural requirements. This decision follows a previous dismissal of AGI's objections in July the previous year.
