Delhi Crackdown: Anti-Encroachment Drive Sweeps Wazirpur Industrial Area

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), along with four other agencies, executed a significant anti-encroachment drive in the Wazirpur Industrial Area of north Delhi on Saturday. The operation aimed to clear alleged encroachments over a main drain near the local fish market, following directives from the Delhi High Court.

The coordinated action included the efforts of the MCD, Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), the railways, and the Irrigation and Flood Control (IFC) Department. Officials highlighted that multiple jhuggis had been extended over the drain, disrupting its natural flow and affecting reconstruction work planned by the IFC Department.

Meanwhile, in Uttam Nagar, the MCD's Public Health Department sealed 19 eateries for operating without valid Health Trade Licences in Hastsal JJ Colony. Inspections had earlier revealed 30 such establishments without the necessary permissions. Despite issuance of notices, many continued operations, prompting the closures. The action was part of larger efforts to enforce city regulations.
