Police announced the arrest of three individuals accused of committing a daring bank heist in the Barhi area, apprehended in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Approximately 5 kg of looted gold was reclaimed following their capture.
The robbery saw suspects make off with 3.9 kg of gold and cash on April 24 by threatening the bank manager and staff at gunpoint. This noteworthy criminal operation spanned state borders, prompting the collaboration of the Uttar Pradesh police's Special Task Force.
Arrested suspects Saurabh Kumar Yadav, Md Afazal, and the alleged mastermind Pankaj Singh were seized with significant evidence, including melted gold worth Rs 1.28 crore and Rs 20 lakh in cash. Authorities remain vigilant in pursuing additional suspects linked to the heist.
