Canada Declares Khalistani Extremists a Threat to National Security

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service's 2025 Public Report underlines the ongoing risk posed by Canada-based Khalistani extremists (CBKE), noting that their actions jeopardize both Canadian interests and safety. The report cites a historical context, referencing the Air India Flight 182 bombing, the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history.

While highlighting the dangers of violent extremism, the report acknowledges that non-violent advocacy for Khalistan remains legal and distinguishes it from extremist actions. The relations between India and Canada, strained in recent years, are now under the leadership of Prime Minister Mark Carney, who is working towards rebuilding bilateral ties.
