A tragic incident shook Siddharthnagar as a 10-year-old boy lost his life after the staircase of a defunct water tank collapsed, causing three out of five children to fall. While descending from the unsafe structure, Siddharth succumbed to his injuries despite being rushed to a medical college.
The Indian Air Force was called in to perform a dramatic helicopter rescue, saving two children stranded on top of the decrepit tank. The operation, supervised by district officials and the Chief Minister's office, was necessitated by adverse weather and hazardous ground conditions that thwarted traditional rescue efforts.
Built 30 years ago, the water tank in the Kashiram Housing locality had been restricted but remained an attraction for children making social media reels. Despite being declared unsafe, the children climbed it, leading to the deadly accident.
