Tension in the Strait of Hormuz: South Korean Vessel Incident
South Korea is investigating an attack on a South Korean-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. A fire in the engine room of a ship operated by HMM is under investigation with no casualties reported. U.S. military presence increased after Iran's blockade of an American warship.
South Korea is currently investigating reports of an attack on a vessel flying its flag in the strategic waters of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Yonhap News.
An HMM spokesperson confirmed a fire had erupted within the engine room of one of its bulk carriers traversing the area. While the fire's cause remains undetermined, no casualties have been reported.
Adding to the tension, the U.S. military announced that two of its Navy guided-missile destroyers had entered the Gulf, countering Iran's blockade that allegedly halted an American warship's entry.
