TADA Court Convicts 12 in 1993 Arms Conspiracy Linked to Dawood Ibrahim

On Monday, a TADA court delivered a verdict convicting 12 individuals in a 1993 arms smuggling conspiracy that took place along the Gujarat coast. This plot was linked to notorious underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, designed in retaliation for the Babri Masjid demolition.

The court, led by Special Judge RP Mogera, sentenced 10 of the convicted to five years of rigorous imprisonment, while two others received seven-year terms. Special Public Prosecutor Tushar Gokani highlighted that the prosecution successfully demonstrated how the conspiracy was planned at Ibrahim's Dubai residence and involved Pakistan in executing its operations.

Evidence from the trial revealed the involvement of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and military personnel in aiding smugglers to transport arms and explosives into India. This complex plot involved significant resources, and the lengthy investigation spotlighted the efforts of law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice.
