Sudan Accuses Ethiopia and UAE in Escalating Khartoum Drone Conflict
Sudan's armed forces have accused Ethiopia and the UAE of involvement in a drone attack on Khartoum airport, marking renewed conflict amid a civil war. Ethiopia denies the allegations. Recent drone strikes have intensified tensions, disrupting years of stability and exacerbating a severe humanitarian crisis.
Sudan has leveled accusations against Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates, alleging their involvement in a drone attack which shattered a period of relative calm in Khartoum. Ethiopia's Foreign Ministry has dismissed these claims as unfounded, further accusing Sudan of violating Ethiopia's territorial integrity by supporting hostile entities.
The UAE has yet to respond to the accusations. Tensions between Sudan and neighboring states have resurfaced, with Sudan questioning Ethiopia regarding the recent drone attacks. This comes as residents of Khartoum are recovering from the conflict that reignited in March 2025. The city experienced its first international flight in three years last week.
The resurgence of hostilities has led to heightened fears of ongoing conflict, with the RSF implicated in renewed attacks. The conflict, characterized by drone warfare, has been one of the most severe humanitarian crises globally, with extensive casualties and mass displacement.
