Authorities have arrested five individuals, including an auto-rickshaw driver and an elderly man, linked to two disturbing cases of sexual assault involving minors, police reported on Tuesday.
In the first case, an auto-rickshaw driver allegedly abducted two sisters, aged 17 and 15, under false pretenses, leading them to be gang-raped. Officials state the incident occurred after the duo visited an ashram in Vrindavan. Following a distressing threat, they later managed to return to Mathura, spearheading the arrests of the driver and three others.
Separately, a 68-year-old man was detained for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old girl. Witnesses raised the alarm, resulting in the man's capture by local residents. Authorities are continuing their investigation under stringent sections of relevant protective laws.
