In a significant development, the Karnataka government has decided to reinstate the suspended Director General of Police, K Ramachandra Rao, effective immediately.
An official order confirms that the 1993-batch IPS officer will now serve as Director General of Police (Police Manual), a post equated in status to other senior DGP positions.
Rao, previously suspended due to unbecoming conduct, found himself embroiled in controversy, including viral videos and an illegal gold smuggling case involving his stepdaughter, Kannada actress Harshavardhini Ranya Rao.
