High Stakes: The Al Qadir Case and Imran Khan's Legal Battle
Counsel for former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, requested an adjournment in the high-profile Al Qadir case. The court hearing was set to reexamine their sentences related to allegations of misusing welfare donations. Challenges include limited access to the jailed couple for legal guidance.
Legal representatives for Pakistan's former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, sought a delay in the Al Qadir case proceedings, as reported by local media on Wednesday.
Khan and Bushra, sentenced for allegedly abusing charity donations, are appealing their convictions in the Islamabad High Court, with a hearing initially set for May 7.
The lawyers cited restrictions in accessing their clients at Rawalpindi's Adiala jail, hindering the necessary preparation for their main appeal due on Thursday. The case involves accusations concerning the misuse of funds linked to Al-Qadir Trust and a substantial real estate deal.
