ASEAN Summit Mediates Thailand-Cambodia Tensions Amid Fragile Ceasefire
Leaders of Thailand and Cambodia are meeting in the Philippines to address tensions following deadly conflicts over their disputed border. In a rare diplomatic engagement, the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia are set to meet in the Philippines to discuss tensions emanating from their disputed border, where hostilities have led to significant casualties.
Organized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the talks will be overseen by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on the eve of an ASEAN leaders' summit.
The discussions come in the wake of battles that resulted in over 150 fatalities and massive displacements. The meeting aims to uphold a fragile ceasefire with both sides holding firm on sovereignty claims.
