In a tragic incident on Wednesday evening, a boat capsized in the Yamuna River near Kutubpur Patiya hamlet, claiming the lives of five people, including four children. The mishap occurred around 7 pm when nine people were crossing the river, police reported on Thursday.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of Akanksha, Labhyansh, Mahesh, Rani, and Brijrani, while an 11-year-old boy, Aditya, remains missing. Rescue operations are hindered by heavy rain, according to SHO Brijesh Kumar. The boatman, Dheeru, managed to save three people from the disaster.
Chief Minister Adityanath has ordered a probe into the accident and called for measures to avert similar incidents. He emphasized the need for senior district officials to oversee search operations and provide full support to affected families, with BJP MLA Manoj Prajapati promising appropriate compensation for the families.
