More than 87,000 missing persons have been reunited with their families between 2021 and April this year as part of operations 'Talaash' and 'Muskan', Chhattisgarh police officials said on Friday. A total of 1,03,766 missing person cases were registered in Chhattisgarh during the period, of which 87,035 were reunited with their families, an official said. These comprise 2,785 boys, 16,472 girls, 18,671 men and 49,107 women, he added. ''Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had directed police to intensify efforts to trace missing persons, after which special drives were carried out under Operation Talaash and Operation Muskan. Many had left home due to personal reasons such as romantic relationships, employment opportunities, domestic disputes or travel-related aspirations, he added. During 'Operation Talaash' conducted in April this year, police traced 4,056 missing persons, comprising 545 children and 3,511 adults. ''Police also coordinated with authorities in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan to trace missing persons. A total of 182 persons were brought back from other states during the operation,'' the official said. Among districts, Durg reported the highest number of recoveries at 683, followed by Bilaspur with 648 and Raipur with 426, he informed.
