Uttar Pradesh DGP Rajeev Krishna on Friday directed police officials across the state to ensure speedy and quality disposal of public grievances, strengthen monitoring of anti-national and casteist content on social media, and intensify action against serious crimes. Chairing a crime review meeting at the state police headquarters here, the DGP also asked officers to make maximum use of the 60,244 newly recruited constables in beat policing, foot patrolling and public interaction, while ensuring proper training, housing and mess facilities for them. The meeting was attended virtually by zonal additional directors general of police, police commissioners, range inspector generals and deputy inspector generals, and district senior superintendents of police and superintendents of police. Expressing satisfaction over Uttar Pradesh's performance in the 'Crime in India 2024' report, Krishna said the positive results reflected the hard work and dedication of police personnel and expressed confidence that the force would continue to deliver improved outcomes. To prevent incidents of drowning in rivers, canals and reservoirs, he directed the identification of dangerous spots and installation of warning boards, barricades and mandatory life jackets, along with awareness drives by the local police and the SDRF.
