Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system has showcased remarkable proficiency, achieving nearly 99% effectiveness against missile threats from Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as ballistic missiles from Iran, according to Yuval Steinitz, chairman of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
At a conference held by the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, Steinitz reported that since the Hamas raid in October 2023, a staggering 40,000 rockets have targeted Israel. Despite this, Iron Dome has intercepted a significant majority, ensuring civilian safety and economic stability.
This defense capability, largely funded by the United States, is credited with preventing massive casualties and societal disruption. Steinitz, who previously played a crucial role in negotiations with Iran, emphasized the importance of stringent conditions in any future agreements regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions.
