The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for its persistent delays in disbursing funds to child care institutions under Mission Vatsalya. Justices Rajan Roy and Jaspreet Singh emphasized the need for a permanent, time-bound solution.

The case, initiated by a PIL from Anoop Gupta, has been pending since 2008, with the latest hearing scheduled for May 27. The government has attributed the delay to postponed meetings of the project approval board, which previously affected a Rs 1 crore assistance to Drishti Samajik Sansthan.

The court underscored that the funds' timely release is crucial, warning that delays could undermine the scheme's objectives. It urged the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development to facilitate prompt board meetings to avoid further setbacks.
