A POCSO court in Haryana's Nuh district has handed down a 20-year rigorous imprisonment term to a man found guilty of raping a minor girl, law enforcement officials reported on Tuesday. The sentence, delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Ashu Sanjeev Tinjan, also includes a fine amounting to Rs 40,000.
The incident was first reported on April 23, 2023, when the victim's family lodged a complaint at the Bichhor police station. They alleged that the accused, with his brother's assistance, abducted the minor from her residence and committed the assault under gunpoint, threatening her life if she disclosed her ordeal.
According to police accounts, the assailant also assaulted the victim's family when they arrived at his house in search of their missing daughter. During the investigation, critical evidence including medical reports and witness testimonies was collected and presented in court. Following comprehensive deliberations, the court rendered a guilty verdict, marking an important decision in the prosecution of such crimes.
