The dispute began in 2022 when the EUIPO registered 'Obelix' as a trademark for firearms, sparking resistance from Les Editions Albert Rene. They argued that the registration damaged the reputation of their famous earlier EU trademark linked to the beloved Asterix & Obelix comic series.
