In a significant move to tackle fuel consumption amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for austerity, has reduced vehicle numbers in official convoys. The decision is aimed at decreasing fuel use during this challenging period.
Cabinet Minister Rushikesh Patel announced the initiative, highlighting that bureaucrats are encouraged to join meetings virtually to minimize travel. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi has set an example by canceling his scheduled US visit, further highlighting the government's commitment to these measures.
Efforts extend beyond the state ministers, with Governor Acharya Devvrat and Union Minister CR Paatil also adopting these practices to reduce fuel usage. Educational institutions have been urged to implement 'combustion engine free days,' promoting the use of electric vehicles and bicycles
