The Allahabad High Court has expressed strong disapproval over the delay in administering the oath of office to Lalit Kishore Tiwari, the elected corporator for ward 73 in Lucknow. The court has set a one-week deadline for this oath to be carried out, with a warning of personal appearances required from the mayor, district magistrate, and municipal commissioner if this order is not followed.

During the hearing, applications for exemption from appearing were submitted by the mayor and the district magistrate, citing exigencies. The municipal commissioner, however, attended the session. In response, the court affirmed that administrative responsibilities must be respected and executed promptly.

Judges Alok Mathur and Amitabh Kumar Rai, addressing the issue, emphasized compliance with the election tribunal's decision, which remains unheeded nearly five months post-election. Legal representatives, including Additional Advocate General Anuj Kudesia, were unable to provide a satisfactory reason for the delay, prompting the court's stern reminder of obligations toward governance.
