A tragic incident occurred in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district when a mentally challenged man allegedly killed two people with a sharp weapon. The assailant, identified as 28-year-old Mochka Alda, attacked the victims, Budheswar Rana and Gopinath Sardar, near his residence. Both victims died on the scene from severe head injuries.
In the aftermath of the attack, locals subdued Alda and reportedly assaulted him, resulting in serious injuries to his legs. Authorities arrived swiftly and took the accused into custody. Despite being taken to Rairangpur hospital under police custody, the accused succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have conducted an inquest into the victims' deaths in the presence of family members and witnesses. The weapon involved in the attack has been recovered, and investigation into the incident is underway, officials confirmed.
