Punjab is gearing up for its upcoming assembly polls with a transparent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra confirmed on Thursday that the revision will involve door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers starting June 25.

A meeting with political party representatives will be held on May 15 to discuss SIR procedures. The intensive exercise will deploy 24,453 BLOs across the state to verify and update voter details, ensuring inclusion of eligible citizens and removal of duplicates.

The final electoral roll is set to be published on October 1. The process, which also includes mapping and rationalisation of polling stations, aims to foster voter confidence and participation in the democratic process.
