Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stirred controversy last Friday with remarks likening some unemployed youths to 'cockroaches', accusing them of becoming activists who attack the system.
The comments emerged during a session addressing a lawyer's pursuit of senior advocate designation, which the CJI strongly criticized, questioning the individual's professional conduct.
The bench raised serious concerns over the authenticity of some lawyers' degrees and the Bar Council's inaction, eventually leading to the petitioner's apology and withdrawal of the petition.
