Digital Transformation: Census 2027 Kicks Off with Houselisting Phase in Delhi

The Census 2027's houselisting phase commenced on Saturday in Delhi, with around 50,000 enumerators set to visit households across MCD wards. This follows the conclusion of the self-enumeration exercise in 250 wards, where over 1.34 lakh individuals submitted census details online.

As part of the immense logistical undertaking, the MCD areas have been divided into approximately 46,000 houselisting blocks, each comprising 180-200 houses. Residents can verify census personnel's credentials via their identity cards, appointment letters, or a QR code scan, ensuring an authentic process. The exercise began with a self-enumeration phase from May 1-15, with notable participation ratios from various districts.

The comprehensive Census 2027 effort aims to ensure everyone's inclusion, leveraging digital solutions via a mobile app for data recording. As the houselisting phase concludes on June 14, it sets the stage for population enumeration in February 2027, aimed at gathering valuable demographic and socio-economic insights.
