Breakthrough in Manipur: Hostages Released Amid Ongoing Negotiations

In Manipur, concerted efforts by civil society groups, government officials, and security forces have led to the release of individuals held by armed groups in the region. Among the released were members of the Kuki and Naga communities, previously taken hostage after violent incidents involving church leaders.
On Thursday and Friday, 31 of the 38 hostages were liberated from locations in Kangpokpi and Senapati districts. Civil society organizations, alongside state representatives and security personnel, continue to negotiate for the freedom of the remaining captives.
Manipur's Home Minister, Govindas Konthoujam, confirmed the ongoing discussions aimed at securing the complete release of all hostages. The combined efforts have brought hope for a resolution to the crisis, as more community members are being safely returned home.
