Authorities in Gujarat have dealt a significant blow to the infamous 'Chhara' gang, arresting two key members involved in a spree of car thefts across the state and beyond. On Saturday, police apprehended Satish Indrekar and Nakul Tamaiche, both residents of Ahmedabad, in connection with a spate of robberies.
The gang orchestrated thefts by smashing windows of parked four-wheelers, making off with cash and valuable items. Utilizing air travel, they extended their operations to various states, targeting cars in cities and religious locations. Investigators have linked them to no fewer than 25 incidents of similar nature.
The breakthrough came through diligent CCTV surveillance and technical analysis, particularly following reports of thefts in Banaskantha district. A joint operation between the Banaskantha crime branch and Ahmedabad counterparts culminated in the arrest of the alleged perpetrators.
