Delhi's Road Safety Blitz: Thousands Penalized in Two-Hour Drive

In a focused bid to enhance road safety, the Delhi Traffic Police hit the streets on Saturday, carrying out a two-hour special drive resulting in the issuance of 2,846 challans for traffic violations.

The operation, which took place between 4 pm and 6 pm, targeted areas notorious for wrong-side driving, a major factor behind road mishaps and congestion in India's capital. Officials reported that 757 of these challans were given specifically for the offense of driving on the incorrect side of the road.

Further enforcement actions included 32 FIRs against individuals engaging in rash and dangerous driving, alongside penalties for drunk driving, triple riding, and other infractions. The police emphasize the need for strict adherence to traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
