A jewellery trader in Maharashtra's Thane has fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme, allegedly orchestrated by six individuals, resulting in a loss of Rs 14 lakh. The incident came to light when a 31-year-old from Goregaon, Mumbai, reported the crime to local police.

According to the complaint, the victim was approached with an enticing offer to purchase gold at a reduced rate. Lured by the prospect of acquiring 100 grams of gold at a bargain, he handed over the money in cash at Thane's Vasant Vihar area on May 12. However, the promised gold was never delivered.
