In a dramatic turn of events inside Kanpur's district jail, Shashi Ranjan Mishra, the man accused of murdering his twin daughters, reportedly attempted suicide. Mishra, a resident of Kidwai Nagar, tried to take his own life by slitting his throat with a self-sharpened steel plate.
Jail officials revealed that Mishra sustained only minor neck wounds and was quickly transported to Ursula Horsman Memorial hospital for treatment. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident to determine how Mishra managed to create a weapon within the confines of the jail.
Mishra was apprehended last month for allegedly killing his 11-year-old daughters, Riddhi and Siddhi, prompting a police response and subsequent arrest. Questions around his mental health and the circumstances of the incident remain under scrutiny.
