The UDF government, newly sworn-in to office in Kerala, has rolled out a comprehensive suite of welfare initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for various segments of society. Chief Minister V D Satheesan highlighted the government's commitment to fulfilling promises, notably the free KSRTC bus travel for women starting June 15.
The week's Cabinet session introduced an unprecedented department dedicated to senior citizens, asserting Kerala's pioneering status in elderly care. Furthermore, the government sanctioned a Rs 3,000 increase in honorarium for ASHA workers and additional raises for Anganwadi workers, school cooking staff, and others.
In the realm of governance, notable appointments were made, and an SIT was established to revisit a politically charged assault case. CM Satheesan ensured that the court-directed investigation aligns with judicial mandates, countering any political motives claims. The administration's broader financial strategy will soon be outlined in a white paper.
