Escalating Tensions: Israel-Hezbollah Conflict in Southern Lebanon
Despite a U.S.-backed truce extension, conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified, resulting in airstrikes in southern Lebanon and an increasing death toll. The ongoing conflict in southern Lebanon has picked up pace, as Israeli airstrikes were reported on Monday. Lebanese security sources and the nation's news agency confirmed the strikes, coinciding with Hezbollah's announcement of new aggressions against Israel.
With more than 3,000 casualties reported since the conflict reignited in March, tensions persist despite a recent 45-day truce extension mediated by the U.S. Notably, an Israeli strike near Baalbeck resulted in the death of a Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander and his daughter.
Responding intensely, Hezbollah launched an explosive drone at an Israeli air defense position, further escalating hostilities in the region, while the death toll continues to climb on both sides amid calls for civilian evacuations.
