In a significant move, the Haryana cabinet on Monday approved the One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme 2026, targeting the recovery of outstanding dues under pre-GST tax laws. The initiative, set to commence on June 1, will remain active for a 120-day period and is aimed at mitigating legacy litigations while accelerating the retrieval of unpaid dues.
Eligible taxpayers can submit applications via the Excise and Taxation Department's online portal during the scheme's tenure to leverage offered benefits. Applicable under several tax acts, including the Haryana Value Added Tax Act, 2003, the scheme provides comprehensive waivers. Those with dues below Rs 1 lakh per assessment year automatically benefit from a full waiver without needing to apply.
Notably, the scheme offers varying tax waivers based on the arrear amount, extending distinct slabs for debts over Rs 1 lakh, promising significant concessions. Aiding taxpayers further, a new provision for document-linked waiver allows submissions of statutory documents for seamless settlement verification, promising added flexibility and relief.
