The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Thursday sought details from authorities on measures being taken to curb noise pollution in the Uttar Pradesh capital, particularly that caused by modified silencers in vehicles.
A division bench comprising Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manish Kumar directed the authorities concerned to file fresh affidavits by the second week of July, clearly detailing the steps taken in this regard.
The order was passed during the hearing of a suo motu public interest litigation (PIL) registered in 2021 under the title ''Noise Pollution from Modified Silencers''.
The court had earlier directed the constitution of a committee comprising responsible officers from all departments concerned to address the noise pollution caused by modified silencers and similar devices.
