Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually addressed the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela and distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates across the country, reaffirming the Government of India’s continued focus on employment generation, youth empowerment, and citizen-centric governance. The nationwide initiative was organised simultaneously at 47 locations and witnessed enthusiastic participation from thousands of newly appointed youth joining various central government departments and ministries.

The Rozgar Mela, launched as a major recruitment drive by the Government of India, has emerged as one of the flagship employment initiatives aimed at accelerating public sector recruitment while strengthening administrative efficiency. Newly selected candidates during the 19th edition joined prominent ministries and institutions including Indian Railways, ISRO, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and the Department of Higher Education. Significantly, more than half of the total appointments were made in the rapidly expanding Indian Railways sector, underlining the government’s infrastructure-led employment strategy.

Addressing the newly recruited candidates through video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated them and their families, describing the appointments as a life-changing milestone for thousands of households across the country. He said the youth entering public service today would become active partners in India’s development journey and would contribute directly to the national vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.

The Prime Minister stressed that government employment should not be viewed merely as a job or position, but as an opportunity to improve the lives of citizens and strengthen governance at the grassroots level. He urged the newly appointed officials to work with dedication, integrity, and compassion, while placing citizen welfare at the centre of administration. Referring to the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava,” he reminded the recruits that serving citizens effectively is the true essence of public service.

Highlighting India’s rapidly rising international stature, Prime Minister Modi said the world today views India as a major engine of growth and innovation. He referred to his recent five-nation visit to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, and Italy, noting that global leaders and international corporations are increasingly eager to partner with India in areas ranging from advanced manufacturing to emerging technologies.

According to the Prime Minister, every new investment and technology collaboration entering India is creating fresh opportunities for Indian youth. He specifically pointed to growing investments in semiconductors, digital technologies, electronics manufacturing, green energy, and infrastructure development as sectors that are generating substantial employment potential while strengthening India’s economic future.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the remarkable growth of India’s startup ecosystem, stating that the country now has more than 23.30 lakh recognised startups. He observed that innovation is no longer limited to metropolitan cities, with Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities increasingly emerging as major centres of entrepreneurship and technological advancement. He especially appreciated the growing contribution of women entrepreneurs in driving India’s startup and innovation economy.

Speaking about future opportunities, Prime Minister Modi noted that investments in clean technologies, green hydrogen, renewable energy, logistics, and transportation infrastructure are opening new employment avenues across both urban and rural India. He encouraged the newly appointed youth to continue upgrading their skills and capabilities in line with evolving governance and technological requirements.

Emphasising the importance of continuous learning, the Prime Minister urged recruits to make effective use of the iGOT Karmayogi platform, which has been developed to support skill enhancement and capacity building among government employees. He said modern governance requires adaptability, innovation, and digital readiness, and encouraged the appointees to prepare themselves for future administrative challenges.

The programme in Ahmedabad was attended by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Smt. Raksha Khadse, along with senior ministers from the Government of Gujarat, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and senior administrative officials. During her interaction with the newly recruited candidates, Smt. Raksha Khadse congratulated the youth and described India’s young population as the nation’s greatest strength.

She stated that providing young people with the right opportunities, skills, and platforms is essential for unlocking India’s full potential. According to her, the Rozgar Mela is not merely a recruitment exercise, but a transformative initiative that connects talent with meaningful opportunities while strengthening the relationship between skill development and employment generation.

Smt. Khadse also emphasised the importance of lifelong learning and adapting to rapidly changing employment trends, especially in technology-driven sectors. She encouraged the newly appointed officials to perform their duties with confidence, discipline, and commitment to excellence, expressing confidence that their contribution would strengthen the broader national mission of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Since its launch in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela initiative has facilitated the distribution of lakhs of appointment letters across the country and has become a major pillar of the Government’s employment generation strategy. The programme reflects the Centre’s emphasis on empowering youth, strengthening public institutions, and creating inclusive growth opportunities across sectors and regions.

The 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela marks another important milestone in India’s ongoing efforts to expand employment opportunities, modernise governance, and ensure that the country’s demographic strength becomes a driving force behind long-term national development.
