Taiwan Strengthens Defense Amid China's Increasing Military Activities
Taiwan has deployed ships and jets to monitor increased Chinese military activities near the island, as tensions between the two escalate. Beijing continues its assertive maneuvers around Taiwan, which it claims as its own territory. Taipei remains on high alert following recent talks between U.S. and Chinese leaders.
Taiwan has heightened its military readiness, deploying ships and fighter jets to monitor China's escalating military activities near the island. This marks the second 'joint combat readiness patrol' reported in a week, as China intensifies pressure on Taiwan by increasing its military presence in the area.
Reports from Taiwan's defense ministry late Monday indicated that 21 Chinese aircraft, including J-16 fighters and drones, as well as warships, were involved in these maneuvers. Despite repeated requests, China's defense ministry has not issued a comment on their activities.
The tension is further fueled by China's ongoing rejection of Taiwan's sovereignty, with recent encounters near the Pratas Islands displaying the fragile nature of the region's security. Taiwan is particularly wary following interactions between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump, which included discussions on Taiwan.
