High Court Lifts Interim Protection for TMC's Jahangir Khan
The Calcutta High Court has lifted the interim protection granted to TMC leader Jahangir Khan amidst allegations of political vendetta. Seven FIRs have been lodged against him. Justice Partha Sarathi Sen ruled that the political shift should not influence legal protections. Khan's plea for extended protection was denied.

The Calcutta High Court has vacated the interim protection previously provided to Jahangir Khan, a prominent leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
There are currently seven FIRs filed against Khan at the Falta police station in South 24 Parganas, as reported by law enforcement officials.
Justice Partha Sarathi Sen stated that it would be unjust to extend protection solely due to a political change and allegations of political vendetta. Additionally, Khan's plea to extend the interim protection from police action, initially granted on May 18, was denied. Meanwhile, Additional Advocate General Rajdeep Majumdar noted that the protection was initially intended solely to allow Khan's participation in the Falta repoll, the results of which were announced on May 24.
