In a concerning incident in Aizawl, authorities have arrested five individuals, among them two minors, following a violent assault on a teenager near the Grand Hotel in the Chanmari area. The attack unfolded early Tuesday morning when five teenagers confronted and injured a 19-year-old during an argument.
Of those implicated, three suspects have been placed in judicial custody, while the minors have been transferred to the Juvenile Justice Board's care. The victim has been hospitalized but is reportedly not in critical condition.
This incident has prompted the Young Mizo Association (CYMA) to express serious concern over the increasing frequency of gang-related disturbances and street violence in Aizawl at night. The association urged both families and local YMA branches to proactively support efforts to stabilize peace and security in their areas.
CYMA has also appealed to the state government and law enforcement to intensify their initiatives to maintain public safety and address lawlessness. They encourage the public to report any street violence or disruptions promptly to authorities to facilitate immediate resolution.
