C Joseph Vijay, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to deliberate on pressing issues impacting the state. Key topics in the dialogue included the controversial Mekedatu dam project, the detention of Tamil Nadu fishermen, and the Tamil invocation song.

The meeting marked Vijay's first official trip to the national capital since taking office. He expressed deep concerns about Karnataka's planned initiation of the Mekedatu dam project over the Cauvery river, asserting that it contravenes the final decision of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and the Supreme Court's judgment.

In addition, Vijay requested that Narendra Modi issue a definitive order permitting the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu to commence government events. He also called for decisive actions to ensure the swift release of detained Tamil fishermen and their boats.
