A tragic incident unfolded off Nellore's coast when two fishing boats were involved in an accident, resulting in two fishermen losing their lives, while the fate of another two remains uncertain. This was confirmed by police officials on Wednesday.
Kavali DSP VV Ramana Kumar revealed that there were two fishermen on each vessel. However, it remains unclear if the missing individuals are still alive or have succumbed to the mishap. The accident happened during their return amid reported gusty winds that also caused trees to fall in the area.
Fisheries Minister K Atchannaidu expressed his sorrow over the incident and assured that the government aims to provide all necessary aid. Search efforts have been intensified to locate the missing fishermen, while officials have been advised to offer immediate support to the victims' families. Additionally, a formal case has been registered under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
