A teenager has been detained by authorities following a violent altercation in which he is accused of attacking a long-time friend with a sickle. The incident was reportedly triggered by the victim's phone conversations with the attacker's mother.

The 17-year-old suspect, who had maintained a friendship with Rohit Jhanke for five years, confronted him near Nahur railway station. Using a sickle, the teenager allegedly inflicted severe injuries to Jhanke's head and neck, resulting in his hospitalisation. Following this, local authorities have charged the youth with attempted murder and placed him in a juvenile correction centre. Kanjurmarg police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
