Sampat Singh of the Indian National Lok Dal has voiced strong criticism against the central government in response to the recent increase in fuel prices. He asserts that the soaring fuel costs have severely impacted the public, particularly accusing the ruling BJP of using these hikes for political leverage.
Calling for action, Singh argued that significant taxes on fuel should be reduced to alleviate the financial strain on citizens. He emphasized that benefits from any decrease in global crude prices should immediately be passed on to relieve individuals and families struggling under the current financial pressures.
According to Singh, the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices reflects a trend of deliberate timing aligned with election schedules. He cautioned that sustained high transportation and agricultural costs are harming economic stability and household budgets.
Singh concluded by highlighting the irony in the BJP's prior criticisms of past governments for similar issues and demanded prompt measures to halt what he described as profiteering by state-related enterprises.
