The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has concluded that Rapido, under Roppen Transportation Services, is not guilty of abusing a dominant market position. This decision stems from a complaint alleging Rapido's non-compliance with state standards in Uttarakhand.
The complaint highlighted issues such as Rapido's pricing strategies, including fares undercutting state minimums and opaque pricing, but the CCI found these concerns tied more closely to transport and licensing regulations. Furthermore, it dismissed allegations about predatory pricing, noting that existing fare structures set by state authorities do not support claims of anti-competitive behavior.
Additional issues regarding the company's operational practices were found to have no basis for contravention under the Competition Act. The CCI's findings emphasize the limitations of competition law on matters primarily involving state transport regulations.
