Kathmandu and New Delhi to Collaborate on Resolving Border Dispute

The Nepali and Indian governments are seeking to resolve their long-standing border disagreement by engaging historians and surveyors. This collaborative approach was confirmed by Nepal's Balendra Shah, who noted an exchange of official diplomatic notes on the matter.
The disputed areas, Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura, sit at a strategic trijunction between India, Tibet, and Nepal. India regards these locations as part of its Uttarakhand state, stressing bilateral talks as the path forward. Shah emphasized that these discussions should involve a thorough study of historical documents.
Nepal has been in communication with both China and the UK about this issue, acknowledging the historical context tracing back to post-British rule in 1947. Shah highlighted that the encroachments are reciprocal, calling for a friendly resolution based on factual study.
