Indonesian Deputy Minister Arrested in Anti-Corruption Sweep

Indonesia's anti-graft agency has taken into custody the Deputy Minister for Immigration and Correctional Affairs, Silmy Karim, on charges of corruption related to the administration of immigration documents. This marks the second arrest of a senior official within two days.

Karim's arrest comes closely after Dadan Hindayana, the former head involved in President Prabowo's free meals program, was detained by the Attorney General's Office on separate corruption allegations.

Seven other suspects have been identified in connection to Karim's case. The government has reiterated its commitment to combat corruption under President Prabowo's administration.
